A hollow one is what remains when the Void empties a person. The process is poorly understood --- some scholars believe it occurs near active fractures, where the Void's entropic influence is strong enough to simply *erase* the soul from a living body while leaving the flesh intact. Others believe hollow ones are created deliberately by Void entities as scouts or infiltrators. The result is the same: a human body that walks, speaks, and mimics normal behaviour, but with nothing behind the eyes. Hollow ones are disturbingly convincing --- they can maintain a facade of normalcy for days or weeks, parroting phrases, performing routines, even holding basic conversations. But under pressure, the mask slips. Their speech becomes looping and repetitive. Their facial expressions fall out of sync with their words. And when they finally drop the pretense, the emptiness inside becomes a weapon.
Skills:Deception +5, Stealth +4
Damage Resistances:Necrotic, psychic
Condition Immunities:Charmed, frightened
Senses:Darkvision 60 ft, passive Perception 9
Fear Check:DC 13 Wisdom save when first encountered (only when the hollow one reveals its true nature).
False Humanity. The hollow one appears identical to its original form. A DC 15 WIS (Insight) check reveals something is wrong (uncanny mannerisms, delayed reactions). *Detect Evil and Good* identifies it as an aberration.
Void Core. When the hollow one drops to 0 HP, its body collapses and releases a pulse of Void energy. Each creature within 10 feet must succeed on a DC 13 WIS save or take 7 (2d6) psychic damage and be frightened until the end of its next turn.
Multiattack. The hollow one makes two claw attacks.
Claw. Melee: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft. Hit: 6 (1d8 + 2) slashing damage.
Empty Gaze. The hollow one targets one creature it can see within 30 feet. The target must succeed on a DC 13 WIS save or take 10 (3d6) psychic damage and be stunned until the end of its next turn. A creature that succeeds on the save is immune to this hollow one's Empty Gaze for 24 hours.
Mimic Voice. The hollow one perfectly replicates the voice of any humanoid it has heard speak. This can be used to lure, confuse, or manipulate. No action required if used outside of combat.
