Five hundred people. A wooden palisade. Thirty militia. One temple to Verath. The town of Ashwick sits at a crossroads in the Grey Reaches and has weathered everything the world has sent at it for nine hundred years.
The world is sending something larger this time.
The Last Gate is a siege defense adventure for levels 5–8. Ashwick doesn't fall easily. The party determines whether it falls at all.
Overview
The Last Gate is a siege defense adventure built around the question of what a group of mid-level adventurers can accomplish when the math is clearly against them. Ashwick has been self-sufficient and stubborn for nine centuries. It is not equipped for what is coming. The party's job is not to win a siege — it is to change the terms of one.
The adventure is structured across three phases: discovery (understanding the threat and the town's resources), preparation (fortifying positions, rallying militia, making hard decisions about what to sacrifice), and the siege itself. Player decisions in phases one and two directly shape the difficulty and outcome of phase three.
